Conversion Upon Sending to Device

I'm new to Calibre and having a little trouble trying to find out whether I can set Calibre to automatically convert .lit files to another format upon being sent to a device. Sorry for the n00b question, but does anyone have an answer? Thanks :)

Edit: Having Calibre automatically convert a certain file format upon being added to the Calibre library would be fine as well.
