I noticed a small spelling mistake on a Kindle book.
So, I took the previous AZW3 file, I corrected and as before, I reloaded the EPUB file on Amazon.

Compiling a number of articles into an ebook all individual articles' footnotes Calibre moves into one file mixing them together and re-numbering the footnotes into a new list. Re-appending the footnotes back to individual articles (which are chapters in epub) and restoring the correct numbering takes a lot of time. Can this behaviour of Calibre's conversion be modified to to keep the footnotes by the corresponding article/chapter? It involves the creation of an ebook version of a science journal, and the footnotes must be kept by the corresponding article, otherwise the structure of the article is destroyed.
I have made a few thousand eBooks using Word and the DOXC-Format to calibres EPUB.
Now somebody claims the EPUBS have wrong headers and 100 or more <p class="somfink"> </p> which users have to remove/fix in Sigil.
As I only work in Word and then convert in calibre I don't exactly get the problem - my books look fine in my kindle as I perfected my method over the past few years.
Could this be a bug in calibre or a setting I overlooked? Has anyone an idea how to really make "clean" or "perfect" ebooks?

Calibre has faithfully extracted book covers into the Calibre library until yesterday. I dropped a couple of new books into Calibre and converted to mobi, but the jpg cover was not extracted. I have the same problem when converting to mobi or to epub. It may be to upgrading to v3.31.0, inadvertently modifying a setting, or another unknown problem.
BTW, I copy the jpg cover file to my android phone so I can then load a clean cover picture for the book in my Moon+ Reader app. It would be nice if I didn't have to execute a separate step of loading the picture into the file on the phone, so if anyone knows how to avoid that, it would be great! Thanks!
On my device ( pocketbook touch 2 hd ), I have tried to view an epub book that I have previously created from an HTML file. The e-book conversion took place with calibre (3.30).
Table of contents created by automatically detecting H1 tags.
If you open the book and select an entry in the table of contents, it jumps to the designated text position, no problem.
But if you return to the table of contents, it boldly marks a wrong entry to signify where you came from.
The version of the touch 2 hd is "U631.5.18.463".
I wanted to ask if someone could give me an answer or clarification, if I have to contact the manufacturer.
I have a pdf that looks like this. I have acquired in legally via my university for studies, and want to convert it to mobi for Kindle reading. But as you can see it is stamped with copyright notices on the left and bottom. When I tried cropping them, I realized the information doesn't really go away, and the mobi result is:
*copyright text converted to mobi text every page
*actual book text inserted as images
Then I used Acrobat pro to "remove hidden information" after cropping.
However, now instead of the copyright text I get "g by pp" every page, and the result is the same. What can I dooooo?
So I've started to try adding tags into my Word document before I bring it into Calibre for conversion, however the tags don't carry over well. It's phrases that are the problem. I've tried enclosing them in inverted commas, using semicolons, using underscores between words, but my feeling is that they aren't working and will then not carry well over to KDP where I will upload my eBook. Has anyone else had any experience with this?
I have a well formed epub that has three heading levels (h1, h2, h3). The epub contains a logical table of contents in a toc.ncx file including all three levels. When I convert the file to azw3 with all the settings in default, the logical toc when viewed on the kindle only shows headings h1 and h2. When viewing the azw3 using the calibre viewer, all three headings are visible in the logical toc. (meaning I can click on the first h1 level and it shows all h2 levels under it. Then I can click on an h2 level and it shows all the h3 levels under it)
My question is, does anyone know if this is just a hard limitation on the Kindle device(i.e. only showing 2 levels in the logical toc), or if I am doing something wrong when I convert it.
Interestingly, the Kindle does recognize the h3 levels as chapters when calculating amount of time left to read the chapter and also in the "swipe up" navigation.

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'data'
Please, see the attached pictures. The first picture, Pic 1, is the incorrect Ebook conversion, and the second picture, Pic 2, is the native Word Doc (what I would desire to be the output). I used special bullet points, seen in the third picture, Pic 3, and the forth picture, Pic 4. I use the default settings on Calibre to convert from Word Doc to Ebook. I don't think this is a bug.
Any help on converting this correctly, would be greatly appreciated by me :).
First I'm using LibreOffice to type my document and saving to .odt before importing it into Calibre and converting it into .epub.
For the life of me I can't figure this one out. I have a typed document that is formatted correctly and everything converts fine to epub, bold text, italic text, text size, but for some reason when I have a tab on a new paragraph it does not show up. Even hard returns show up. Is there something I need to do in Calibre or is it something I need to do in LibreOffice?
I normally read mobi books on my Kindle Fire with the colour set to black, this gives me a black background and white text.
I have found that more and more when I convert from EPUB to MOBI format then I get black and black so both the text and background is black, I have to change it to Septia to be able to read the book.
Is there a setting in the conversion I am missing that will allow me to fix this issue?
