Hello.
When I try to convert ebook from epub format to to mobi and docx format, exported files do not have series tag, which is present in the original file:

Series and series # is missing in docx and mobi.
Docx supports "custom properties" tags, which could be used for series.
They can be viewed/edited by wps office writer (free program), or ms word.
They can be of various types: text, number, date, boolean (yes/no).
Could support for .docx custom tags be added to calibre-meta, too?
More info on custom properties: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...4-1dd4622c6b75

Or atleast subject field in docx could be used, which is not used during conversion.
(calibre-meta sees subject field as another keyword tag.)

Or tags in calibre (called keywords in docx) could be used for extra tags.

Not sure about mobi.

Please write if I should post this somewhere like on the bugs/issues page.

Multiple AZW > PDF Conversion Preference Profile Settings

Hi,

It is possible to save your AZW > PDF conversion settings in Preferences. This is REALLY helpful!

Is it possible to have TWO unique sets of AZW > PDF conversion preferences?

Here is my thinking: I use one set of conversion preferences for texts I'll use chiefly on-screen. The other set for documents I'd likely print.

Right now I'm needing to kind of keep a running tab of all the small changes between the two, and I enter those based on what I'll be using the document for.

Is there anyway for me to have

Conversion Preferences

azw > pdf (1)
azw > pdf (2)

Blaine

Calibre Conversion: Inconsistent Font Output When Converting From Epub to Docx

$

Hello,

First of all I would like to thank Kovid Goyal and all other contributors for creating this exceptional piece of software.

I am currently using Calibre to convert a bunch of epub books to Docx format so that I can directly edit the manuscript's back matter. At first the conversions were really inconsistent and messy. A lot of epubs are created with Vellum and other automated softwares these days which produces really hideous HTML. But once I turned on Heuristic Processing the improvement in conversion quality was absolutely dramatic and it became *Almost Perfect*.

I am just having a problem with Calibre's font selection now.

There does not seems to be any rhyme or reason regarding Calibre's choice of a default font in a converted document. Sometimes the body text is in Calibri 11 Pt, sometimes it is Palatino 12 Pt and at other times it is in Cambria 12 Pt. My default font in MS Word 2019 is Times New Roman 16 Pt and Calibre never follows it.

Is there any way for forcing Calibre to use my default font settings when converting a document? My default font settings are:

Body Text (Normal Paragraph) - Time New Roman 16 Pt
Heading 1 - Calibri Light (Heading) 20 Pt
Heading 2 - Calibri Light (Heading) 18 Pt
Title - Calibri Light (Heading) 36 Pt
Subtitle - Calibri (Body) 16 Pt

Any help will be really appreciated. :thanks:

Conversion to epub from lit... boldface??

$

I converted some .lit files to epub using ebook-convert. Usually this works like a charm, no brainer. But for some reason this time, the output epub files all seem to be set in boldface, and I don't see a text option in my reader (Marvin) to turn it off. I can change fonts and sizes but so far no luck getting rid of the boldface.

I'm guessing I'll have to dig into the epubs and fix it internally, which is a bit beyond my skill set at present (but an opportunity to learn!). Any thoughts? has anyone else ended up with an entire book in boldface? (It's readable, but rather fatiguing).

Convert Epub > RTF or TXT: Any Way To Eliminate Page Numbers?

$

Hi,

Converting a book from epub to either txt or rtf the physical page numbers persist. So that, even though you just have a scrolling screen of text, every 6 paragraphs or so your'll have a line with just

16

Is there any way to set the conversion variables so that the output of

txt
rtf

files excise the page numbers?

I was thinking could it be done via regular expressions?

Or, is there another setting that either one could rig to eliminate page numbers?

Or, a perhaps there's a built-in feature epub > txt / rtf conversion that handles this that I'm missing.

Many thanks!

Sincerely,

Blaine

800 - Page Long Book: After Conversion Every Line Has Words Stuck Together

Hi,

Using Epub and even PDF to convert to

docx
text
rtf

Seems like at least every line has words that need spaces but didn't get them:

eighteenthcentury

atleast

I've got access to different versions of the books: Epub & Adobe. Still, going into any of the above 3 formats I get the same stuck-together-words issue.

What do you think is happening?

Sincerely,

Blaine

How to convert Epub to txt with number remained?

I have an Epub with <ol> and <li>, so it has number. How to remain it when I convert it to txt? Because I find the txt do not have number.

I have a proprietary font that embeds perfectly into EPUB, but when I try converting it to MOBI, the font is skipped. I check the metadata in the EPUB and the font is properly referenced there.
Any idea how to proceed?

"typesetting not supported for this book" help please!

I have the latest kfx output plugin installed on calibre. however during conversion of any of my epubs to kfx at 67% completion i always get this message: Enhanced typesetting not supported for this book. I have the latest software and plugins installed and I'm a little puzzled as to why this is not working for me any help would be greatly appreciated.

Input images being cropped

Hi, i have a book that appears to be all images, even the text. When it is imported into calibre, the images seem to be cropped meaning much of the book is missing.
I have selected default input and output profiles and kept everything else as default but still the book is cropped.

Wrong order of wors when converting Arabic ebook

$

Hi there,

I have tried converting some ebooks (epub) in Arabic for a Kindle.

The words look good, but the order of words is wrong. For example, this would be the correct right-to-left order:

.Arabic in sentence a is This

When I open the epub (before conversion) in my computer, in Calibre's Viewer, it looks good. But when I open it in my Kindle, the text is aligned to the left (as in English) and the order of words is left to right (as in English).

Is there any special setting that I must use to keep the correct order and alignment?

Cheers, Manuel

How to turn multiple jpg images into 1 pdf ebook file

$

I have been downloading a few manga from the internet lately and I was wondering how to turn jpg files into 1 pdf file. So each manga will have there original number per ebook.

Example the first manga I downloaded has (40) images. Which means I need to look at each image one at a time. And I need to use a image viewer app on my tablet. I prefer a free ebook reader. So I wanted to know if there is a way to turn (40) jpgs into (1) pdf ebook. And if so can I do it with this program if not could you suggest a free program that might work thank you!

By the way when I said Original number it means this the first chapter of the manga is Chapter (1) and that Chapter has (40) images including the cover art. So I want to make a PDF ebook file for each of the manga Chapters so that way each Chapter has there own ebook file. I hope this makes sense. Thanks again.
