When converting to PDF from EPUB the paper size at 6 x 9 inches produces output at 5.75 x 9 inches. I experimented and changed the setting to 6.25 x 9 inches and this converts to a 6 x 9 inches. I cannot find what I am doing wrong. Best regards, Pop

Spaces after each syllables, but displayed correclty. [EPUB to PDF]
I recently started converting EPUB to PDF with Calibre newest version (v5.7.2), and besides everything run smoothly at first glance, I realized after doing some annotation with Acrobat Reader, that the text isn't formatted correctly in the background. If you double left-click one word, it'll only select partially the word, not the whole. Also, if you copy the whole word and paste it into a text editor, the word will be split up with spaces.

On version 4.1 and 4.2 I couldn't reproduce the issue, even with the same conversation settings. I also tried 'Remove unnecessary hyphenation' on 5.7.2 but doesn't make a difference.
Please forgive me if the issue is already known. I tried to find similar posts under this forum, however, I found nothing.
I appreciate any suggestions for solutions from you guys.

PDF to epub conversion question
A friend of mine asked me to help him to convert a PDF ebook to epub, I'm not that familiar with Calibre/conversion, so here are my questions
1) my environment:
OS: MX Linux 19.3
Calibre: 5.5
2) questions:
2.1) as far as I know the PDF does not have DRM (can be opened freely with other readers). But when try with Calibre, it's stuck at loading. How can I check what's the problem?
2.2) It seems Calibre is not very good at converting PDF to epub, and there's a post saying that it's better to use Mobipocket Creator, the trouble is 1) it's dead 2) it's for Windows and I'm using Linux, any other alternative I can try?

epub to docx conversion loses paragraph spaces
Windows 10, latest Calibre, Word 2019
Issue: epub -> docs conversion works, but loses paragraph spaces.
The div are there where they should be in the epub source, and the spaces appear on the epub reader (used calibre as reader).
However, as shown by Word 2019, the docx file resulted from conversion doesn't have any extra spacing, where the div were.
This is a book of poetry, so the spacing between stanzas is critical.
I tried various conversion options wrt heuristics (with and without), look & feel / layout, nothing works.
I have experience on calibre, but not converting to docx, thus any pointers would be appreciated. BTW, I've installed no plugins (should I?).
Thanks in advance.

Newbie help, vellum to kindle
I use Vellum and am uploading epub and mobi to StoryOrigin. However, (some of?) my readers cannot download the kindle I have uploaded there.
I export from Vellum to epub/KIndle. Then use Calibre to convert from epub/Kindle to mobi.
Is there some plug in I should use to make this work? I can't find a pattern for my readers OS. Except they prefer to download for Kindle.

Bad spaces in PDFs
Hi,
for years everything was fine, but recently I am getting horrible PDFs when I convert EPUB or AZW3 to PDF.
Working on Macs, Big Sur and Catalina, usually the most recent version of Calibre. Actually, converting with an old version of Calibre works fine.
I attached a file to demonstrate the results. Anyone any idea?

Convert Newspaperat the epub format to Kindle "Periodical" format
Hi all,
I have a Kindle 10th generation and Calibre. I was wondering if there is a way for me to convert the epub of a newspaper into a mobi file for my kindle at the "periodical" format .
I looked into several posts on this forum or on stackoverflow but they are more than 6 years old and was wondering if there was new ways of doing this?
I managed to convert my epub into "Books" by adding the tag EBOK, I was wondering if something similar existed for the "periodicals"?
I attached an example of epub I would like to convert.
Thank you,
Loïc

It does the same with the Author Name, the Table of Contents page(s) and the Chapter Headings of each chapter.

Sending KFX to device
Hi. I have converted an epub book to KFX using the KFX output plugin. I would like to send the converted book to my phone that I have connected with Calibre Companion.
If I right click the book in Calibre and choose Send to Device / Send specific format to / Main Memory I get a list of available formats to send. However, KFX is not one of them.
Is there a way to wirelessly send KFX to a wifi connected device?

Multiple menu pages
Hi, I've downloaded a manual from the web and converted it to a zip file and then to epub. I have nearly 300 split html files. After each chapter the menu is repeated all the way through the book. For example a chapter page is index4_split_001.html, the next page displayed is a repeat of the menu; index5_split_000. The following page is the next chapter page index5_split_001.html, which is correct. The next page is the same menu again but now named index6_split_000.html and so on. So basically after every chapter the menu reappears linked by the chapter name and numbered *_000.html.
Is there a way of removing all these *_000.html files other than manually deleting in Calibre's file browser?
Many thanks

Converting HTML with external inline links to epub
I have an HTML file that I found online (<removed> )
All of the links in this story link to the same page, with an inline link.
ex: <removed>
Is there a way to make these links work without manually hyperlinking all 450+ links? I'm very new at doing any conversions beyond basic docx or mobi to epub.

EPUB -> CBZ Conversion?
I did a thread search before posting this, and I see alot of articles on converting CBZ -> EPUB, but nothing on the reverse.
My use-case is that I have a bunch of digital comics I purchased from a vendor (we'll call them "Rainforest") and then stripped the DRM to get an EPUB. I'd prefer to just have them as generic CBR/CBZ files, though, so that I can leverage the dedicated comic-book reader apps on my tablet.
I've found that I can manually make a CBZ file from a comic source EPUB by just yanking the "Images" directory out of the extracted EPUB, zipping it up, and renaming it to a .CBZ extension. This is trivial to do, but quite time-consuming.
Has anyone created a plugin/conversion option that would let me do this within Calibre? I am sure this might result in some missing metadata, but I did try googling around, and as far as I'm aware there is no established "standard" for CBR/CBZ files for metadata files, etc. It looks like it's literally just a Zip Archive or RAR Archive of images, with the first chronologically-named image serving as the comic's cover.
If I'm wrong on this front, I'd appreciate any info about the CBR/CBZ standard.
